Hulu has released the highly anticipated first look at the sequel to Margaret Atwood’s Emmy Award-winning series that captivated viewers for six seasons until it was signed on in May 2025. The Handmaid’s Tale It brought Elisabeth Moss’s tale full circle, but it also put protagonist June Osborn on an eye-opening journey when she vowed to never stop fighting for the return of her first daughter Hannah, who had been renamed Agnes since it was taken from her and is now growing up as a young teenager in Gilead.

Enter now Covenantsviewers meet teenager Agnes, played by Chase Infinity. The trailer shows Agnes as a “plum” (colors mean everything in Gilead), meaning she has grown up under the totalitarian regime her mother is fighting against and the growing resistance, and is training to become Gilead’s wife.

As the trailer digs deeper into its premise, Agnes’s plum view of her world becomes darker and darker, as familiar Gilead images of this patriarchal world emerge, such as people hanging on “the wall” and wives placing the law of Gilead on their “daughters.”

But the clip ends with the main components of The Handmaid’s Tale – Resistance and hope. Agnes holds the hands of her fellow Peaches and vows to fight. “We had no idea what we were capable of,” she says, trying to smile her mother’s famously disrespectful smile. “It’s time for us to change things.”
