In February, a second letter sent to the media regarding Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping indicated that the retired grandmother was killed shortly after being picked up from her home in Arizona earlier this year, according to multiple reports Monday.

Nancy Guthrie, long-time mother today Flight attendant Savannah Guthrie was reported missing after disappearing from her Tucson home on February 1. Evidence indicates that she was moved from her home where she was living alone. The frantic search for the 84-year-old quickly became a national news story; However, as the weeks passed, very little information arrived days after her disappearance.

NBC News and ABC News reported Monday that a second letter received by local media indicated Nancy Guthrie had died. The networks quoted sources familiar with the investigation. Both letters were sent within days of her disappearance.

A week later, on February 10, doorbell footage of a man approaching her home on the night of her disappearance was released, 10 days after Nancy Guthrie was last seen; This came after two memos considered reliable by experts were sent to the media in Tucson.

The correspondence was different in many ways. While the first note demanded money in exchange for Nancy Guthrie’s return in cryptocurrency, the second note did not demand money but stated that Nancy Guthrie died shortly after her kidnapping. The message prompted Savannah Guthrie to publicly send a joint video message to the kidnappers and would-be killer of her beloved mother.

“We received your message, and we understand that,” she said as her brother Camron and sister Annie surrounded the veteran on the morning show. “Now please bring our mother back to us so we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace… This is of great value to us, and we will pay the price.”

The missing persons case has gone relatively cold since the doorbell footage was released, with no new evidence ever emerging in the investigation. Savannah Guthrie returned to host the daily morning show and discussed her mother’s occasional disappearance. But hope for the missing octogenarian, who needed specific medications to survive, dwindles with each passing day.
