Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ continues to achieve its dreams at the Indian box office. Headlined by Matt Damon, the epic fantasy adventure crossed the Rs 70-crore mark during its opening weekend.

“The Odyssey” set at the box office on the third day

According to a report on Sakneelak, the film has already become Nolan’s biggest opener in India. ‘The Odyssey’ earned an estimated Rs 21.90 crore nett on Sunday (day 3) and a combined total of Rs 26.16 crore across 9,195 shows.The third day’s earnings saw a slight 0.5 per cent decline in collections compared to the Rs 22 lakh crore net on Saturday.With this, the film’s total net collection in India stands at an estimated Rs 61.30 crore, while its total collection now stands at an estimated Rs 73.19 crore after just three days of its theatrical release.

Christopher Nolan scores biggest opening weekend in India

‘The Odyssey’ which began its journey at the box office with an impressive net collection of Rs 17.40 crore on Friday. It saw good growth in its ticket windows on Saturday, generating an estimated Rs 22 crore nett (Rs 26.27 crore gross) before maintaining almost identical numbers on Sunday.The film had already written history on its opening day by becoming Christopher Nolan’s highest opening film in India. It grossed Rs 20.75 crore across all languages ​​on day one, comfortably surpassing the opening total of Rs 17.50 crore for ‘Oppenheimer’.

The English version of ‘The Odyssey’ grosses Rs 50 crore

The English original was the business leader, earning nearly Rs 50 crore in the film’s gross revenue. According to the report, the film has generated an estimated revenue of Rs 48.5 crore so far. While the Hindi dubbed versions come in second place, followed by the Tamil and Telugu versions.With its opening day performance, ‘The Odyssey’ outperformed the first day collections of Nolan’s previous releases, including ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Tenet’, ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Dunkirk’, setting a new benchmark for the iconic filmmaker in the Indian market.

Nolan’s international debut

The film also opened to exceptional numbers worldwide. According to trade reports, the film debuted to an estimated US$124.5 million at the North American box office and another US$139.6 million from international markets and had a global opening weekend of over US$264 million.The debut marked Nolan’s biggest opening since 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.
