The duo also talked about how important such films are because they provide the audience with a sense of relief that they are not the only ones, all while laughing.Sitting down with The Guardian, the duo spoke about the comfort they felt while filming the project. “There was a lot of pre-existing comfort and trust,” Norton added, noting that they had all worked with each other before and were very aware of what the other actor was like on set.
“There could never have been this arc if it had been shot out of sequence. We would have been more careful. It had a really profound impact on the way the story developed towards its conclusion,” he also shared in working on the film.Wilde added that she shared the same sentiments, admitting, “I feel excited and devastated by this experience, because I don’t know when I can expect to have another experience like this.”

Olivia Wilde directed The Invite, while Will McCormack and Rashida Jones worked on the screenplay. It officially premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year on January 24. The film was then officially released in the United States on June 26.
