A Frank Sinatra feature aims to get into the minds of viewers.
Hemdale Film Corporation has acquired the rights to produce independent films in North America Sinatra! Eternity, Hollywood Reporter I’ve learned. The late Michael Madsen leads a cast that includes Rico Simonini, Eric Roberts, Lukas Haas and Harry Dean Stanton in the drama from directors Giorgos Papatheodorou and Michael Oblowitz.
Sinatra! Eternity Madsen plays journalist Harry Cohn, who prepares to interview an elderly Sinatra while the famous singer recounts highlights of his life and career. Simonini portrays Sinatra and also produces the film.
Hemdale, the Oscar-winning studio recently revived as a release division under Hannover House, took home the title on the first day of Cannes. The companies plan to release Sinatra! Eternity It will be released theatrically in major US and Canadian markets in October, with a streaming release in December. Greece’s “Cinema of Crisis” is the feature that will be screened next week at the Cannes market.
“Sinatra! Eternity “It offers an insight into one of the world’s most famous celebrities,” says Hemdale Films and Hannover House CEO Eric Parkinson. “We believe the film has theatrical potential and broad appeal as a streaming release.”
Considered one of the most prominent artists of the 20th century, Sinatra rose to prominence as a singer in the swing era, with a Grammy Award-winning career including such hits as “My Way” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” Sinatra went on to star in films such as From here to eternitywhich won an Oscar, and The Manchurian Candidate Before his death in 1998 at the age of 82.
