Inspired by Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg’s Dogma 95 cinema movement, the group aims to produce films without artistic intervention, using existing materials, and without the use of the Internet.

Exactly one year after a group of up-and-coming Danish directors launched the Dogma 25 film movement in Cannes, the first Dogma 25 film, Mr. Nawashi From Isabella Eklöf filming began.

Inspired by the independent cinema movement Dogma 95, led by Danish directors Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg, filmmakers pledged to produce films under a strict “vow of chastity” comprising ten new doctrines to protect artistic integrity from the pressures of the modern film industry.

Among the requirements of Doctrine 25 are that all scripts be “original and handwritten,” that at least half of the film be devoid of dialogue, that filming be done on real locations using found or reused materials, and that the Internet cannot be used in the creative process.

All five Dogma 25 projects are being financed in collaboration between Zentropa, DR and Scandinavian distributor Nordisk Film Distribution, which will release all finished films locally. Netflix has acquired the streaming rights to Dogma 25 projects in the Nordic countries.

Mr. Nawashi It also received funding from the Danish and Swedish Film Institute. TrustNordisk is handling international sales for the Dogma 25 list.
