As a production in the second season of Shogun Increasingly, the Emmy Award-winning drama is adding more actors to its cast.
Risei Kukihara, Ryo Sato, Seichiro Nishida, Mantaro Koichi, and Takashi Yamaguchi have joined the ensemble for the second season of the FX series, which is filming in Vancouver for a potential premiere sometime in 2027. Details of the actors who will play them are still secret, except for the names of the characters: Gabriel (Kukihara), Rin (Sato), Goshin (Nishida), Saito. (Koichi) and Kano (Yamaguchi).
Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis will reprise their roles in Season 2, which takes place more than a decade after the events of Season 1. Fumi Nikaido, Shinnosuke Abe, Hiroto Kanai, Yuriko Doguchi, Tommy Basto, Yuko Miyamoto, Eita Okuno, and Yuka Kuri will also return.
FX officially renewed the series in April 2025 and subsequently cast Asami Mizukawa, Masataka Kubota, Sho Kanita, Takaaki Inoki, Jun Kunimura, and Rin Meguro.
Of the five new additions to the cast, Yamaguchi is probably best known to American audiences, as he appears in Letters from Iwo JimaApple TV devices Pachinko and CBS episodes Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders And Fox accused. Sato had a role in a Martin Scorsese film silence He has a host of film and television credits in Japan, as does Koichi. FX Productions is the studio for Shogun. Rachel Condo and Justin Marks created the series for television, based on the novel by James Clavell, and executive produce with Michaela Clavell, Edward L. McDonnell, Michael De Luca, and Sanada.
