More legal troubles are said to have followed Bollywood actor Salman Khan.As per the latest reports, the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court has issued notice to the actor, after taking cognizance of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging “violations of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms” at a property in Candolim, Goa.
A housing project linked to Salman Khan is under scrutiny
A report on Dainik Gomantak states that a PIL was filed by the Calangute Constituency Forum, challenging the construction carried out on a plot of land in Candolim, which is said to fall within the 100-metre “no development zone” under CRZ-III regulations.According to the petition, allegedly violating environmental laws, Salman and a company linked to him built residential villas in the “environmentally sensitive area.”
Classic City Investments Private Limited has reportedly built residential villas and swimming pools about 55 meters from the high tide line of the Sinquerim River, in alleged violation of CRZ regulations. The petition also claims that Salman Khan is the managing partner of the company. The PIL also challenges the occupancy certificate issued by the Gram Panchayat on April 30, 2025. It claims that construction on the plot exceeded approved building plans and procedural “irregularities” occurred while issuing the certificate.
The petition names several respondents, including the Goa government, Goa Coastal District Management Authority, Candolim Gram Panchayat, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and several others.
Supreme Court issues notice
The Supreme Court has reportedly issued notices to all the defendants seeking their responses to the allegations. The topic will be addressed further after responses are submitted. This update comes after the Supreme Court previously expressed concern over the alleged “illegal construction” along Goa’s coast. At the time, the court warned that officials could be held personally liable if timely action was not taken on complaints of CRZ violations.
