“We were living in the same community, and she (Amrita) had a German shepherd, which was not trained and was not meant to be an unleashed dog. I am an animal lover, and I understand how different types of pets should be treated,” the actor said.Director Akashdeep, who was also present during the conversation, clarified that Saif and Amrita were away shooting when the accident happened and they were not personally responsible. According to him, one of the home’s employees accidentally left the gate open, allowing the German Shepherd to escape and attack his two Pomeranian dogs. “To give the couple their due, they weren’t home and were shooting somewhere; the house help left the door open, my two Pomeranians were out for a walk, and the German shepherd tore them apart,” he said.
Akashdeep then narrated the comical misunderstanding that followed the tragic incident. “My guard called me and told me that I needed to come back as soon as possible. When I asked him about it, he just said: ‘Saif aapka kota kha gaya’ (Eat your dog’s sword), and I couldn’t understand what he was talking about.”Sheba admitted that despite the funny confusion over the phone call, losing her pet had a negative impact on her. “I was terrified and upset, and I was going through a very bad phase,” she said.
