Amid his ongoing legal battles over widespread rape and sexual assault allegations, Russell Brand has admitted to having “exploitative” consensual sex with a 16-year-old girl when he was 30.
The disgraced comedian, best known for his roles in Big Brother’s Big Mouth And in Forget about Sarah Marshallis currently awaiting trial over allegations from six women, alleging crimes dating from 1999 to 2009. “It’s exploitative,” he said of the relationships. “Having consensual sex with a lot of people, when there is a strong power differential, like when you’re a famous man who has the ability to attract women that I had at the time, I think it’s exploitative.”
He added: “I realize that my past sexual behavior was selfish. I didn’t give enough consideration – barely, I think – to how that sex affected others.”
Detectives began investigating in September 2023 after receiving a number of allegations, which followed Channel 4 reports Missionaries and Sunday Times.
