Rihanna once again arrived to the Met Gala fashionably late — and as always, it was worth the wait.
The star appeared on the famous red carpet more than an hour after the rest of the A-list guests had entered on Monday — and after Vogue’s live broadcast had already ended — this year wrapped in a sparkling gold and silver Maison Margiela dress, with her hair also featuring golden spirals. She walked hand-in-hand with her partner A$AP Rocky, who wore a pink robe over his suit.
Rihanna has become one of the most anticipated Met Gala guests over the years, constantly taking the internet by storm with her looks — and last year revealing her third pregnancy on the Met’s steps.
The theme of the 2026 Met Gala is “The Art of Fashion,” tied to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Spring Fashion Institute exhibition of the same name, which “examines the centrality of the worn body across time and culture, juxtaposing garments and artworks from throughout the museum’s extensive collection to create pairings that highlight the indivisible relationship between clothing and the body,” according to the Met.
Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour serve as this year’s co-chairs, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs. The hosting committee is co-chaired by Anthony Vaccarello and Zoe Kravitz, and members include Adut Akech, Angela Bassett, Sinead Burke, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Konsani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Rebecca Hall, Lisa, Chloe Malley, Amy Mullins, Tchabalala Self, and Amy. Sherald, Sam Smith, Chase Sue Wonders, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Vasser, Anna Weyant, Aja Wilson Weysault.
