As a significant turn in the legal battle between actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Aarti Ravi, the Madras High Court has rejected the actor’s plea for further delay in the case related to interim maintenance.
The latest order means that the deadline already set by the court to hear the alimony application will remain unchanged.
The case continues to attract attention as divorce proceedings between the couple are still pending before the Family Welfare Court in Chennai.
The court keeps the two-week deadline as is
According to News 18, the dispute revolves around an interim maintenance petition filed by Aarti Ravi. She said in her petition that Ravi Mohan has not made any interim payments since April 2025 to cover costs associated with their children’s education.
Since the petition was not considered immediately, she approached the Supreme Court seeking urgent intervention. Earlier, the Supreme Court directed the Family Welfare Court to hear the maintenance application and issue appropriate orders within two weeks.
This trend is still in effect after the recent ruling.
Aarti Ravi opposes the extension request
Ravi Mohan later filed a fresh petition asking the Supreme Court to extend the time granted to the Family Welfare Court.
When the matter was brought up before Justice Abdul Quddus, senior advocate J. Raveendran, who represents Aarti Ravi, made the request strongly. He said there was no need to change the timetable already set by the court. After considering the requests submitted by both sides, the judge refused to grant any extension and rejected Ravi Mohan’s petition.
Family Welfare Court to consider the issue of alimony
With the rejection of the petition, the Family Welfare Court is expected to continue hearing the temporary maintenance issue during the period already ordered by the Supreme Court.
Justice Ravi Mohan also advised to seek any further relief directly before the family welfare court, as the main proceedings are still pending. The latest order is an important step in ensuring that the maintenance application is heard without further delay while the larger divorce case continues through the legal process.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by an external source.
