. Netizens loved seeing Ranbir in the role of Lord Rama although the teaser overall got a mixed response.
The teaser was first released in Los Angeles, and in one of the clips that has gone viral, Ranbir can be seen speaking as he plays the role of Lord Ram.
The actor revealed how he would come back from shooting and tell stories about him to his daughter Raha Kapoor as he was very curious to know the story. “I’m very lucky to have this opportunity to be a part of this movie,” he said during a conversation with the Associated Press. “It coincides with me becoming a father. So my daughter is three and a half years old.
On one side, I play the role of Lord Ram, and on the other side I also come home and tell her stories about the Ramayana.
Just to see a three-and-a-half-year-old kid be so curious and ask me, “Did you shoot with Hanuman today?” Did you shoot with Sita today? It shows that this is part of our DNA, our conscience. It is truly part of our subconscious and love for it comes naturally. “We really want this to reach a global audience.”
Meanwhile, during a Q&A session at the IMAX special teaser screening in New York, Ranbir said that this offer came to him four years ago and his first reaction was to say no. “When I came to play Lord Ram, I remember when Namit offered me this role about four years ago. My immediate reaction was: ‘I’m not fit enough, good enough’. I felt like I wouldn’t be able to do full justice. But that fear quickly turned into gratitude because opportunities like this were something I really needed in my life.”He also said, “There was a period when I needed to change my lifestyle. I had just become a father for the first time. The beautiful coincidence of playing Lord Ram and becoming a father became a turning point in my life.” Ranbir W
