Headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, ‘Ramayana’ is emerging as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema and is scheduled to release on Diwali 2026. The film is divided into two parts and the second part is scheduled to hit the screens on Diwali 2027.
The first teaser of the film revealing Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Rama was unveiled recently and since then there has been a massive buzz around it. With anticipation building, producer Namit Malhotra is currently negotiating a major OTT deal for the two-part saga. Reports suggest that he recently rejected a huge offer of Rs 700 crore for the digital rights.A report in Bollywood Hungama quoted a source as saying that this offer of Rs 700 crore covers both parts of the film, but Namit rejected it, considering the size and investment behind the project.
“He expects a deal worth Rs 1,000 crore from OTT players, leaving Rs 3,000 crore to be recovered from other sources, including the global stage,” the source told the portal. The update also indicates that Namit remains confident of getting a higher deal, given the film’s global appeal. “It is a film that gives all platforms a global reach. Rs 1,000 crore for two films together is a fairly good price given the potential. He is keeping the rights close to his chest and will team up with the right player at the right price. There is a possibility for him to sell only the first part now and hold off the second part till the first part is released, which is a strategy that the ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’ team has chosen,” he said.
