Parvathy Thiruvothu explains why Mohanlal, Mammootty are legends; Says, 'They walk on set and make it a better place'

About working with Mohanlal

Recalling her early experience with Mohanlal, Parvathy spoke to Pinkvilla about the impact it had on her. She worked with him when she was first starting out.“I’ve worked with Mohanlal for a long time. I was 19, I’m 38 now. It’s been almost 20 years. Looking back, he maintained his presence of mind as an actor, and I was amazed by that. Also, Jagathy Sreekumar was there, and I only had one scene.”She admitted that she was still discovering her craft at that point.

The experience helped shape her understanding of acting. She added, “I didn’t even know as an actress what I wanted to be at that time, what this craft was. I was a child in many ways, and I realized that this was the kind of quality I wanted as an actress in the end. I’m proud to say that now, 20 years later, I’m there where I can switch between working and going out, and have that intuition, and take care of my co-actors.”

Why does Parvathi Thiruvothu call it “mythology”?

Parvathy stressed that being a legend is not just about stardom.

She highlighted the importance of behavior and empathy in the group.“I’m so obsessed with taking care of others on set because I’ve seen these ‘legends’ become legends because they’re also better than humans on set. It has nothing to do with box office because it doesn’t matter if they’re terrible people. I think that’s why people talk about some actors as legends, because they walk on set and make it a better place.”

About working with MammoottyTalking about Mammootty, she shared a similar experience.

Mammootty’s co-star in ‘Puzhu’ pointed out the aura they bring, but also the equality the Big M maintains in Mollywood during performances.“With Mammootty too, it was the same experience. I mean, obviously, when these people walk onto the sets and there’s an attraction. Everyone shuts up and everything. However, when they are in front of you, you have to forget that they are these legends. Otherwise, how will we act together, like what if I have to act like slap them if I’m looking at them in awe.”

I love it when these so called legends and stars don’t let anything get in the way of their career or the job they do.

“I can be a newcomer and in front of the camera, we are equal.”

Parvathi Thiruvothu talks about completing two years in films

In a separate interaction with TOI City, Parvathi spoke about completing two decades in the industry. She talked about growth, courage, and evolving perspectives.“I started at 17. I was brave and bold. But as the years go by, your understanding of bravery develops. There’s a wisdom that comes with knowing how tough this industry is. It’s an ongoing journey, and I’m proud of the craft I’ve built and the friendships I’ve fostered – few, but meaningful. Last year, when I was approaching 20 years in film, I felt old. But earlier this year, I felt like a baby again. You can start over at any stage. In life.”
