Jessica Chastain is back in the horror world, and this time she’s pulling double duty.
Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for its new movie Another mother on Tuesday, with Chastain playing Ursula, a mother whose daughter Bella (Arabella Olivia Clarke) is terrorized by an evil clone — referred to as “The Other Mother.” “Can I get into your heart?” Another mother says to Bella.
Things escalate at the end of the trailer when it becomes difficult for Bella to tell if she’s actually talking to her mother or another mother. The trailer was released exclusively for Christopher Nolan Shows Odysseywhich is also from Universal.
Here’s the official synopsis: “Bella, an 8-year-old girl living in a home with marital problems, encounters a sinister entity emerging from her closet. The presence, which she calls ‘the other mother’, becomes an increasing threat to her and her family.”
Another mother It also marks Chastain’s return to the horror genre. The Oscar winner has previously starred in the title role Take shelter (2011), mama (2013), Crimson peak (2015) and It is: Chapter Two (2019).
The film is an adaptation of a film New York Times Best-selling novel Accidents around the house. Rob Savage (The host, the bogeyman(Directed from a screenplay by Nathan Elston)succession). Jay Duplass, Dechen Lachman, Ariane Moayed, and Karen Allen round out the cast.
James Wan (Obsession, back rooms and Conjuration franchises) from Blumhouse Atomic Monster is producing with Michael Clare, Judson Scott, Savage, Josh Malerman and Ryan Lewis serving as executive producers.
