An old clip of Ranveer Singh talking about the ban on Pakistani artistes in India is going viral, and netizens say he was perfect for 'Dhurandhar'

Ranveer Singh can be called the ‘man of the moment’ thanks to the kind of response that ‘Dhurandhar’ and now ‘Dhurandhar 2’ got. While ‘Dhurandhar’, which was released in December 2025, broke all box office records, the sequel took it a step higher and beat it.

Ranveer received a lot of praise for his portrayal of Jaskirat and Hamza in the Aditya Dhar directorial. Although the series received a lot of love, many criticized the film as propaganda. Amid the success of ‘Dhurandhar 2’, Ranveer’s old clip talking about India’s ban on Pakistani artistes has gone viral. “I realize that there is one school of thought that one should not mix art or sports with,” Ranveer said at the India Today Conclave in 2019.

These are different worlds and separate borders. But at the same time, we, as artists, athletes and spectators, do not sacrifice as some of our compatriots do. If there are people in the forces or their near and dear ones, their feelings should have the highest value.

If there is a soldier’s mother who is a believer, we should not get involved, then we should respect the feelings. “I think what they want should be of the utmost importance to us.”

Internet users reacted as this clip spread widely. A user shared this video and wrote: “Ranveer Singh was the perfect choice for a film like #Dhurandhar,” adding: “He said this way before Dhurandhar in 2019!!” One wrote: “He is so eloquent, eloquent and smarter than 90% of Bollywood but people couldn’t see beyond his choice of clothes. Deepika, you got lucky.” Meanwhile, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is the first Indian film to cross the Rs 1,000-crore net mark in India.
