Netflix is preparing to say goodbye to one of its most beloved series.
On Wednesday, the streamer announced the launch of their own behind-the-scenes show, Heartstopper: Ends on hiTo celebrate and honor them Heart stopper Series starring Kate Connor and Joe Luke.
“Drawing on unseen archival footage spanning from each season through the final film, the special brings together the cast, creator Alice Ozman, executive producer Patrick Walters, and the fans who made the film. Heart stopper “A global phenomenon,” the streamer described the special.
Featuring candid interviews with fans, this program will chronicle the show’s “creative journey, cultural impact, and lasting legacy.” Netflix also describes it as a “love letter to the community you’ve brought together,” and likes to conclude the series with a hello, “because every end is also a beginning” and “somewhere, someone is about to say ‘hello’ for the first time.”
Luke Hyams will direct the special, which is produced by Pangea and executive produced by Sunita Mirchandani Hyams.
The upcoming special follows the Netflix fan-favorite romance that culminates in a feature film titled Heart Stopper: Foreverpremiering July 17.
Following the conclusion of the series’ third season, which saw Nick (Connor), Charlie (Luke) and many of their friends take their relationships to a new level, the film is set to explore more of the obstacles in store for Nick and Charlie and conclude their journey.
Heart Stopper: Forever It follows “Nick prepares to leave for university and Charlie finds new independence at school” leaving them to face the remaining reality of a long-distance relationship. “Meanwhile, their friends also navigate the ups and downs of love and friendship, facing the bittersweet challenges of growing and moving on. Can first love really last forever?” The summary also reads.
Wash Westmoreland directed the film, produced by See-Saw Films. Produced by Patrick Walters, Ian Canning, Emil Sherman, Osman and Euro Lin Exec. Stars Connor and Luke also serve as executive producers for the first time.
The film was written by Heart stopper Creator, executive producer and graphic novelist Alice Ozman.
The film also stars William Gow, Yasmine Feeney, Corrina Brown, Kizzy Edghill, Toby Donovan, Jenny Valser, Rhea Norwood, and Laila Khan. Olivia Colman, who portrayed Nick’s mother, has been recast for the film, with Anna Maxwell Martin joining. “Unfortunately, Olivia Colman was not able to join us in the film,” Usman told Tudum on Netflix. “So we made the very difficult decision to recast the role, rather than ax the character.”

Originally a webcomic on Tumblr and Tapas, Oseman’s Heart stopper It has amassed a large fan base online with over 124 million views to date.
