Father’s Day holds extra significance for Karan Deol this year. The actor, who is all set to appear alongside his father Sunny Deol in the upcoming drama ‘Batwara 1947’, marked the occasion with a touching tribute on social media.

Besides sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses from the film, Karan reflected on the dream finally becoming a reality after years of admiring his father both on-screen and off-screen.The post quickly caught the attention of fans, many of whom were happy to see the father-son duo teaming up for the first time in a feature film.

Karan Deol’s dream that started on the sets

Sharing a series of pictures from the sets of the 1947 film Batwara, Karan spoke about how the journey began long before he became an actor.

Recalling a conversation with Sunny Deol years ago, he revealed that working with his father has always been one of his biggest aspirations.

“There are moments that feel like fatalism. Telling Papa one time on set about my dream of acting with him was one of those moments. And to be able to share the screen with him today, while watching him up close, makes this Father’s Day truly special.”For Karan, the upcoming release is more than just another project.

It represents a milestone that I have cherished for years and that has now come full circle.

The actor also expressed his happiness about the film’s release, explaining how much the experience affected him. Looking forward to the film’s theatrical premiere, he wrote: “August 14, 2026 is the moment when this dream comes true and I get to share the silver screen with my father in Batwara 1947, a feeling I will never be able to fully express in words.

“It’s something I will cherish for the rest of my life.”Karan’s message not only highlighted his admiration for superstar Sunny Deol, but also his respect for the man behind the public image.In the concluding part of his memoir, Karan described the many roles he saw his father playing throughout his life. While millions know Sunny as an icon of the movement, Karan emphasized that his father’s greatest qualities lie in his personality and values.“I saw him as a son, a brother, a father, an actor, and a legend loved by millions. But standing next to him on set reminded me that his greatest role is simply to be himself; honest, humble, strong, and deeply committed in everything he does. Happy Father’s Day, Papa – my biggest mentor, my strongest support, and my number one hero. I feel so grateful to be living this moment with you. ❤️”

About “Batwara 1947”

Directed by National Award-winning director Rajkumar Santoshi, ‘Batwara 1947’ features a star-studded ensemble that includes Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Ji Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh.

The project marks the much-awaited reunion of Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades of their successful collaboration.The film is being produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. Its music was composed by AR Rahman while the lyrics were written by Javed Akhtar. The script is inspired by Asghar Wajahat’s famous play “Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai”, a work that has enjoyed enduring popularity over the years.Interestingly, the film was originally announced as ‘Lahore 1947’ before the makers decided to rename it ‘Patwara 1947’. Although it was initially expected to hit theaters in 2025, post-production requirements pushed back the release timeline.The much-anticipated drama is now scheduled to hit theaters on August 14, 2026, making it one of the biggest releases of the Independence Day weekend.
