Barely had the trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ hit the internet before director Mudassir Aziz found himself at the center of a debate, with someone accusing him of making films that normalize infidelity.
But Aziz is unfazed, and welcomes the conversation as long as it is rooted in justice.

Mudassir Aziz was quick to respond to the criticism, pointing to his wider body of work as evidence. “This is my seventh film. I have never made a film that legitimizes infidelity,” he said in an interview with Mid-Day. The director added that he feels misunderstood when such accusations appear.He drew special attention to the way women are written in his films.
The director explained, “Ayushmann and I have a history of making films that don’t touch on gender politics in a skewed way. In ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ [2019]A husband faces the consequences of his actions when his wife and his girlfriend reunite. In “Happy Bhaag Jayegi” [2016]She has created a protagonist who chooses her partner. The women in my films have always been strong.

How Ayushmann Khurrana said yes after three novels
Convincing Ayushmann Khurrana to join the team was not an easy task. The director revealed that it took several sessions before the actor was completely sold on the role. “We had three rounds of narration,” said Mudassar Aziz. “After the first time, Ayushmann said he wanted to hear it again. Before the third narration was over, he was enjoying it so much that he said, ‘Let’s do it.’” It comes with a history of difficult themes.
