With five very different releases across 2026, starting with Vir Das starrer ‘Happy Patel’, ‘Ma Ka Sum’, ‘Kohrra’ Season 2, ‘Border 2’ and ‘Pritam and Pedro’, few actors can claim a 2026 as diverse as Mona Singh with releases spanning comedy, drama, crime and thriller genres.

In a recent interview, Singh spoke about the patience and conviction behind her choices, saying that she was always waiting for the right script rather than just staying busy.

Mona Singh reveals why she was waiting for the right script

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mona Singh looked back on the journey that brought her here, believing in remaining patient and waiting for meaningful opportunities rather than accepting projects just to remain visible. Commenting on her career, Mona said that she never allowed setbacks to shake her belief in herself, adding that perseverance was pivotal in her journey.Singh said: “I never thought in my life that this wouldn’t happen. Nothing is impossible. If I had given up, I wouldn’t be standing in front of you today, honestly. I kept going, I stayed consistent, I kept waiting, not for the next script but for the right one. I think that’s why all my releases feel so different. They feel like a curated collection, not a random pile of work… No, I’ve done the right thing.”

The ‘Ba***ds of Bollywood’ actress also shared the criteria that guide her script choices, and revealed that she actively seeks out roles that challenge her as an actor and a woman.Explaining her way of thinking, Mona said: “Something I have never done before as an actress, as a woman. I expect myself to face challenges that I have never faced before. I don’t want women to be kept just as a moral compass…

Or just be the girl next door…or just a good mom. Is she driving the scenario? Do you take the narrative forward? Are her ambitions and resilience celebrated in the script? This is what I’m looking for.
