Ranveer Singh ‘Don 3’ Controversy.
Ranveer Singh has been announced as the new Don in 2023, playing the role previously played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
The announcement sparked great excitement and curiosity among fans, but the project soon became quiet with no updates about casting, shooting schedules, or release plan.Reports of creative differences between the actor and his production company, Excel Entertainment, followed. According to various accounts, Ranveer was reportedly frustrated by the repeated delays and absence of a final script and was said to prefer a darker, sadder film to Don, at odds with producer Farhan Akhtar’s preference to stay closer to the tone of the previous films.
Things reportedly got worse when Ranveer learned that the makers were exploring other casting options while he remained attached to the project.
FWICE intervention
The dispute quickly moved beyond a creative dispute. Industry reports suggested that Excel Entertainment had sought compensation of Rs 40-45 crore from Ranveer for pre-production losses, and the matter was said to have been taken up with the Producers Guild of India for mediation before landing on FWICE.FWICE Senior Advisor Ashoke Pandit said that Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani have personally approached the federation. He noted that significant expenses have already been incurred, including overseas reconnaissance flights, hotel reservations and arrangements for more than 200 crew members. Pandit also confirmed that Ranveer has signed a three-film pact with Excel Entertainment and was involved in script discussions and the ad shoot. On May 25, FWICE issued a formal non-cooperation directive, alleging that Ranveer had not responded to repeated summons. Pandit warned that associates across India would not work with him on films, advertisements or any other projects until he personally addresses the matter before the body.
Ranveer Singh replied
