Malayalam thriller ‘Kattalan’, starring Anthony Varghese in the lead role, is all set to release on this day.Directed by debutant Paul George, the film has already created quite a buzz among audiences due to its stated links with the world established in ‘Marco’ with some shots teased in the trailer and also the cast of Unni Mukundan appearing in Anthony Varghese’s film.
Unni Mukundan denies her involvement in the universe
‘Marco’ actor Unni Mukundan has issued a clarification regarding his association with the project.The official statement read: “We would like to clarify that Unni Mukundan is not a part of this project or any universe. We humbly request our fans and audience to refrain from questioning us further regarding any association with the project in question.”
Ivory smuggling forms the core of the Catalan story.
“Kattalan” is set in the violent world of ivory smuggling and illegal forestry operations.
The film follows a man caught up in a brutal struggle involving greed, survival and dangerous criminal networks operating deep in the wilderness.
The screenplay was developed by Paul George along with Gopi Varghese and Jiro Jacob. The project’s dialogues have been written by Unni R.

One of the most notable features surrounding Kattalan is her relationship with Marco. Although the makers have not officially tagged it as a direct sequel, the film is expected to continue some of the unresolved emotional and narrative threads introduced previously.
According to details shared by the team, an important “Marco” subplot plays a key role in shaping Catalan’s larger story. In Marco’s climax, the audience is introduced to a child who is later identified as Marco’s nephew. In the final moments of the film, the child is kidnapped. The film “Catalan” reportedly explores the aftermath of that event.
Dushara Vijayan makes his debut in Malayalam
Apart from Antony Varghese’s Baby, the film also stars Dushara Vijayan, who marks her debut in Malayalam cinema with the project.The music and background score of the film was composed by Ravi Basrur and P.S. Ajanesh Loknath, both of whom are known for providing powerful soundtracks to heavy action films. The ensemble also includes Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Siddique and Anson Paul in important roles.
