‘Michael’, the biopic on late King of Pop Michael Jackson, starring Jaafar Jackson, had a steady weekend at the Indian box office. According to early estimates, the film has collected an estimated Rs 16 crore nett within its first three days, despite mixed critical reception.According to trade estimates on sacnilk, the film earned Rs 5.50 crore on the third day (Sunday) across 3,201 shows. This represents a growth of 7.8% compared to Saturday’s profit of Rs 5.10 lakh crore, indicating positive momentum at the end of the week. The film opened with Rs 3.70 crore on Friday, plus Rs 1.70 crore from preview screenings, taking its total net collection to around Rs 16 crore by the end of the debut weekend.In total collections, Michael is estimated to have collected around Rs 19.20 crore in India, which is just shy of the Rs 20 crore mark.The film’s performance also puts it ahead of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ in terms of current momentum at the box office. The Ranveer Singh starrer film, now in its sixth week, has earned an estimated Rs 7.95 crore over its sixth weekend, taking its total cumulative net revenue in India to around Rs 1,130.59 crore.Box office data indicates that the Hollywood film has emerged as a strong new competitor to Bollywood films. While it not only surpassed ‘Dhurandhar’, it also influenced the works of ‘Bhooth Bangla’, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The horror-comedy clocked an estimated Rs 29 crore during its second weekend, which was a significant drop from its opening weekend total of Rs 58 crore.
