alive Malcolm in the middle It has become a welcome family reunion for viewers.

Malcolm in the middle: Life’s still unfaira four-episode update of the 2000-2006 comedy, generated strong returns in its opening weekend on Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally. In fact, Disney says, the show was the best season premiere of any show on the two platforms so far this year.

Life is still unfair The film attracted 8.1 million views worldwide in its first three days (it premiered on April 10), calculated as total minutes viewed divided by running time. This equates to more than 900 million minutes/15 million hours of viewing time globally (the show has a running time of 112 minutes for the four episodes).

The show performed particularly well in Latin America, where it garnered 3.6 million viewers on Disney+. This ranks second all-time for a season premiere weekend on Disney+ in the region, behind only the first season Loki In 2021.

The revival’s premiere also gave the original series a boost: It generated 18 million viewing hours worldwide last week, Disney says, more than double the previous seven days.

Life is still unfair The film revolves around the efforts of Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) to bring the family together to celebrate their 40th anniversary. While his brothers are on board, Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) is very reluctant to upend the life he’s built — including a teenage daughter (Kelly Karsten) who his parents know nothing about — to spend time with his family.

The series is produced by New Regency and TV 20, which were also behind the original series. Creator Linwood Bomer executive produces with Cranston, Tracy Katsky Bomer, Jill Berman, director Ken Kwapis, New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehman. Jamie Simmons and Laura Delahaye are associate members.
