Looks like KJ Apa has some issues with himself? His alter ego? It’s not entirely clear, however Riverdale The actor officially took to social media to call out Mr. Fantasy.

In September 2025, Mr. Fantasy initially went viral not only because of his eccentric personality, quirky style, and signature black hair, but also because fans were convinced that he was Appa’s alter ego. To support their theories, fans are pointing out that the pair have the exact same tattoos.

So far, the actor hasn’t addressed the comparisons that have been making the rounds on social media for months, especially as Mr. Fantasy continues to see his star rise from amassing more than 1.2 million followers on TikTok to performing his song “Mr. Fantasy” in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

On Wednesday, Abba posted a long video on his Instagram account (below), criticizing the singer for stealing his image. “So there was something going on for a long time that I didn’t address because I didn’t think it was worth addressing,” the actor said in a serious tone. “But now, because it’s affected my life personally, I feel like I have to talk about it, and I don’t normally do this, take things out here to talk about. But I have to do it now because it hurts me, it hurts my career, and there was recently a music video that was released that involved a group of people who were very close to me being exposed by a guy who completely stole my image and embezzled my image. And I think we all know who we’re talking about.”

While Abba did not directly mention Mr. Fantasy’s name, the message is clearly directed at him, as the singer released a music video for his new song “Do Me Right” last week. Many celebrities appeared in the video, including Apa’s Riverdale Co-stars Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch. Other stars featured include Alex Warren, Dave Franco, Rob Lowe, Nick Jonas, Neal McDonough, Hugh Kiernan, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Somber and Zoey Deutch, among others.

“It’s over,” Apa continued. “It sucks because I just lost a huge job. And I can no longer go to serious work because people think I’m a joke because of this guy. And I don’t know what to do about it other than bring him here and do everything I can to protect myself because it’s completely disrespectful and completely wrong to do that.”

“If anyone thinks it’s okay to take someone’s photo, a literal tattoo, and use it for their own success, they’re dead wrong. And I can’t sit back and watch it happen and see literally my life, everything I’ve worked so hard for, now stopped because of this fucking idiot. That’s all I’m going to say. You know, this person stands for positivity and kindness and all that stuff. Look in the mirror and tell yourself that you’re not a liar and a thief, because that’s exactly what you are.” The map that leads you The star concluded.

Fans will just have to wait and see if Mr. Fantasy drops a response to Apa.

when Hollywood Reporter Mr. Fantasy met the “Wayuwanna” singer last year and said he wasn’t bothered by people comparing him to the actor on social media.

“I didn’t bother him, I didn’t bother him,” he said at the time. “Things bother me sometimes, but I keep my eyes up, and I keep walking down the happy path of happy destiny. You know, things can be painful, sure, but I focus on the positives. I focus on the people I love and who love me and who have a positive impact on my life, like James Franco.”
