Kanye West went ahead and postponed his show in France as the leadership continued to consider banning the rapper from entering the country.
“After much thought and consideration, my only decision is to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice,” West, who now goes by Ye, wrote on X on Tuesday night. He was initially scheduled to perform on June 11 in Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome as part of his 2026 comeback tour.
He added in a follow-up post: “I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends. I take full responsibility for what is mine but I don’t want to put my fans in the middle. My fans are everything to me and I look forward to the upcoming shows. See you on top of the globe.”
Hollywood Reporter It was reported earlier Tuesday that France is eyeing the possibility of banning the “Flashing Lights” artist from performing in the country. Marseille Mayor Benoît Payen and French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said that the West has no place in the French state after his previous anti-Semitic statements and the release of a song last year called “Heil Hitler.”
This came after the artist was banned from entering the UK shortly after he was announced as headlining the three-night run of Wireless Festival in July. After it was booked, several major sponsors withdrew from the music festival, and the event was later cancelled.
The “Heartless” artist has been widely condemned for his anti-Semitic rhetoric in recent years. In addition to his song “Heil Hitler,” he also used a Super Bowl ad in 2025 to direct viewers to his Yeezy website that featured T-shirts emblazoned with swastikas.
West has since apologized for his anti-Semitic remarks in an ad on Wall Street Journal earlier this year, but he did not address the controversy further.
The rapper also did not share any details on whether the France show will be postponed to a later date.
