At the age of 87, veteran actor John Nolan, fondly remembered as the uncle of influential directors Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, has passed away. His performances in the famous “Batman” trilogy and the war thriller “Dunkirk”, as well as in “Person of Interest”, demonstrated his remarkable talent.

Veteran actor John Nolan has died at the age of 87. The actor was also the uncle of directors Christopher and Jonathan Nolan. Nolan has had a busy career working on stage, television and the big screen.

His most famous roles came from his nephews’ projects, where the veteran was known for his roles in the “Batman” trilogy and the TV drama “Person of Interest.”

John Nolan’s early life and career

John Francis Nolan, the younger brother of Christopher and Jonathan’s late father, Brendan Nolan, was born on May 22, 1938. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he toured Ireland in the “Fit Up” travel company, studied acting at the Drama Center in London, and was cast as Romeo opposite Francesca Annis in the role of Juliet at the Richmond Theater in London. He joined the Royal Court company before his stint with the RSC, which included roles as Clitus in Julius Caesar and roles in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Indians and The Relapse directed by Trevor Nunn.
