Actor Janhvi Kapoor recently addressed the serious issue of alcoholism while supporting an initiative aimed at changing how society perceives and discusses it. Speaking at the launch of a recent alcoholism awareness initiative, Janhvi spoke about stigma and silence towards a more enlightened and compassionate understanding.
She also talked about how mental health is connected to it and how one needs care to get rid of this addiction. While alcohol consumption is naturally increasing in social settings, there is still a lack of clarity about when casual drinking turns into a clinical problem, Janvi said. “The conversation around alcohol is either completely absent or very judgmental, and doesn’t serve the people who really need the support,” she said at the launch of the initiative, called Off The Rocks.
Alcoholism is real, it’s clinical, and it affects people from all walks of life.
The initiative aims to make it easier to acknowledge this and know that help exists.” She also stressed that addiction is often wrongly viewed as a moral weakness rather than a mental health condition that requires appropriate treatment and intervention.
