Jamie Dornan is ready for a ‘swell summer’.
The veteran actor, who has just been confirmed to join the new cast Lord of the Rings Premium Search for Gollumfronting the luxury brand’s summer collection campaign. And what a fun show. Dornan was styled in a collection of Moncler pieces, inspired by the brand’s puffy offerings and layering basics, reimagined for the summer season.
Dornan eats a lollipop and blows a bubble from a piece of blue gum, but that’s not the only fun. The campaign also includes a series of inflatable-like animal sculptures created by set designer Andy Hillman and his team including an octopus, whale, lobster, seahorse, crab and flamingos. For Moncler, these creatures “embody the seasonal mood: bold, buoyant and beautifully fluffy.”
“There’s something really interesting about taking what Moncler is known for and turning it into summer. You can still get that warm, fluffy feeling, just in a lighter, more relaxed way,” Dornan says. “The whole campaign has this real sense of joy and fun.”
Moncler’s women’s summer collection features a “fresh and feminine” color palette with colors such as pastel pink, orange, forest green and refreshing neutrals that build on classic summer motifs such as stripes, gingham checks and tropical florals. The collection also includes button-down polo shirts in classic stripes, bow-check playsuits, relaxed dresses and shorts in pastel prints.
For men, the goal was for layered, “casual but sophisticated” looks based on a palette of crimson red, sunny yellow, sky blue, rich burgundy and clean neutrals. Lightweight fabrics define this season from lightweight nylon, relaxed denim, nylon-blend chambray, and crisp cotton poplin. Other pieces include windbreakers, field jackets, hoodies, shorts, lounge pants, vintage bowling shirts, striped polo shirts, graphic tees, crochet or striped poplin hats, and vibrant beanies.
The campaign debuts today, a date that coincides with a pop-up at Milan Design Week from April 16-28. While running, a larger-than-life bloated octopus will animate the 10 Corso Como. Another activation is scheduled in Seoul in the Seongsu area from May 1 to 3, where a giant octopus will take over the façade of a designated space. Other stops are scheduled to include the Hong Kong SAR with a four-storey flamingo in the Harbor City Mall atrium, a giant crab at the entrance to Dover Street Market Ginza, a flamingo on the balcony of the Champs-Élysées department store in Paris, and a lobster mural and flamingo sculpture in Miami’s Design District.
