'I have three titanium screws in my left leg': Prithviraj Sukumaran reveals why he stopped performing dangerous stunts after suffering serious injury

Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran was recently seen in the crime thriller ‘I, Nobody’. The actor recently spoke about the intense action scenes as he revealed that the film keeps changing its tone and offering something new throughout its run.

Why doesn’t he do dangerous stunts anymore?

In a conversation with Indian Express, Prithviraj Sukumaran explained why he has become more careful about performing dangerous stunts. He recalled a serious accident he suffered while filming another movie in 2023, where the injury forced him to undergo three surgeries and affected the entire production.He said: “In 2023, I was shooting another movie, and I have a reputation for doing action on my own. I was doing a series of stunts and I got into an accident and had a very complex injury to my left knee.

I had to have three surgeries, and now I have three titanium screws in my left leg. This film had to be postponed for one year. A lot of money was lost, and a lot of people had to wait just one year. And now I carry this responsibility in my head.

Prithviraj talks about working on ‘I, Nobody’

The actor also recalled another incident that occurred during the filming of the Nissam Bashir directorial. He said that one of the stunt artists was seriously injured, which reminded him of how dangerous action scenes are.

“One of our fighters was injured during the shoot, and he ended up getting 37 stitches behind his neck. These things happen. That’s why I say, ‘Imagine if I was doing that shot and that happened to me. I would have gone home for six months,'” Prithviraj said.Even after his injury, the “Varanasi” star said he still enjoyed shooting action scenes. He praised stunt coordinator Yannick Benn and his team for making the action look realistic. He also said the working style in I, no one asked too much from the actors but he made every scene look real.

“I Am Nobody” is directed by Nessam Bashir and written by Samir Abdel. The film also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Hakim Shahjahan, Ashokan and Vijayaraghavan. It is currently showing in theaters.
