“I never pressured anyone to marry. I never desecrated any family heirloom or intruded on anyone’s private memorial. I never planted any story in the press. I never compared the death of Jacqueline Onassis to the death of a dog.”
She added that in the weeks after the show’s debut, she “received numerous hostile and even threatening messages from viewers who seemed to think the photo was real.”
She continued: “My silence and agreement should not be confused with lies. It seems that my reticence makes me a target.”
“Know that most (if not all) of those who claim to have any intimate knowledge of our personal lives are self-serving sensationalists who traffic in gossip, innuendo and speculation.”
