Apple TV looks to the sky one last time.
The broadcasting company has renewed its drama series For all humanity For the sixth and final season. The pickup comes three days before the show’s Season 5 premiere on March 27; Season 6 will begin in 2027.
With the renewal, For all humanity (Produced by Sony Pictures Television) will become one of Apple TV’s longest-running series with over six years of original programming. Among the shows aimed at adults only Slow horses — which was renewed during Season 7 — will last longer.
“Get exploring For all humanity “For six seasons, the universe has been an incredible franchise, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to end the story the way we always hoped,” said series creators Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedevi, who also co-created the series with Ronald D. Moore. “We’re incredibly proud of what this series has become, and are grateful to Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television for helping us see the series through to its final chapter.”
“From being one of the first original Apple products to launch on Apple TV in 2019,” added Matt Cherniss, president of Apple TV Programming. For all humanity The epic and innovative sci-fi series has continued to captivate audiences season after season. As one of the most popular and enduring series on Apple TV, it has been delivered time and time again thanks to the exceptional artistry of visionary storytellers Ron, Matt and Ben, along with our partners at Sony, and we can’t wait for people to experience how this story reaches its exhilarating conclusion when the final season debuts next year.
The fifth season of the series, which is set in an alternate history where the Soviet Union was the first to land people on the moon, will be set in 2010 and will delve into the friction between the inhabitants of colonized Mars and those left on Earth. Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edie Gatheje, Cynthie Wu, Coral Peña, and Reign Schmidt reprise their roles alongside series new actors Mireille Enos, Costa Ronen, Sean Kaufman, Robbie Cruz, and Ines Aserson.
Wolpert and Nedevi serve as showrunners and executive produce with Tall Ship Productions’ Moore and Mariel Davis, Kira Snyder, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson and Seth Edelstein.
