Known for its premium packages (all-in-one live TV plans for the service), DIRECTV offered the most targeted—and therefore affordable—genre packages. Starting at $19.99 per month* (after a five-day free trial), these streamlined monthly packages were created as a way for customers to tap into their specific areas of interest without having to sign up for multiple separate streaming services (or requiring them to stick with more traditional provider offerings).
While DIRECTV offers six main genre packages — MyEntertainment, MySports, MyNews, MyKids, MiEspañol, and MySports & MyNews Duo — the former stands out for its balanced mix of live TV channels and on-demand streaming services, specifically access to more than 60 entertainment networks along with subscriptions to HBO Max Basic With Ads, Disney+, and Hulu.
After a standard five-day free trial for DIRECTV, the MyEntertainment Genre Pack costs $34.99 per month*, increasing to $42.99 per month* on June 25. In terms of value, the three included streaming services (HBO Max Basic With Ads, Disney+, and Hulu) cost more than $20 per month on their own.
