Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, ‘Cocktail 2’ is poised to be a strong contender at the box office this week, as it arrives amidst a crowded ticket window and is also set to go head-to-head with Hollywood children’s film ‘Toy Story 5’.According to early box office reports, the Bollywood film has recorded impressive advance ticket sales ahead of its release. The 2D Hindi version of the film generated a gross advance collection of Rs 5.56 crore through early sale of 1,61,547 tickets across 11,868 shows nationwide.Including blocked seats, the film’s gross advance is estimated at Rs 8.83 crore.Maharashtra has emerged as the film’s strongest market so far, contributing Rs 1.46 crore in advance sales, with collections rising to an estimated Rs 1.98 crore when blocking seats are included.
Delhi follows second with Rs 1.09 lakh crore in advance bookings, rising to Rs 1.71 lakh crore with blocked seats. Karnataka occupied the top three positions, achieving advance sales of Rs 65.47 lakh, which rose to an estimated Rs 95.32 lakh including blocked seats.With good hype around the film, spot bookings are expected to take the film’s opening day collections to an estimated Rs 12 crore to Rs 15 crore nett. This would place it among the best Bollywood openings of the year.
If the film manages to achieve the target, it will beat the opening day collections of the original film ‘Cocktail’ which released in 2012 and earned a net collection of Rs 10.95 crore on the first day.Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is a sequel to the 2012 romantic drama.
