The free Fox-owned streamer is bringing select episodes from seasons 1 through 38 of the popular children’s series to its platform starting Wednesday, April 1, Hollywood Reporter I’ve learned. Two hundred and fifty old school Sesame Street The episodes, which aired between 1969 and 2007, will be available on the platform as part of a one-year deal.

Some notable episodes that will be available on the platform include the series’ 1969 premiere, “Gordon Introduces Sally to Sesame Street.” The 1988 episode in which the characters Maria and Luis get married (with Elmo serving as ring bearer) will be shown, as will the 1980 episode when star wars The characters C-3PO and R2-D2 visited the street. Not to mention one of the series’ first big location shoots, 1978’s “Big Bird Goes to Hawaii.”
Sesame StreetProduced by the New York-based nonprofit Sesame Workshop, it has aired on PBS since its debut in 1969. But streaming platforms have shown a deep interest in streaming the series in the past decade or so as well. Starting in 2015, HBO partnered with the series for several years to serve as the first window before the show moved to public television.
After HBO declined to renew its deal, Netflix stepped in to stream new episodes alongside PBS in 2025 while that year YouTube also signed a deal with Sesame Workshop to stream classic episodes.
The Tubi deal shows just how powerful Big Bird and Elmo are. This move is additionally in line with the survey conducted by Tubi and The Harris Poll earlier this year that confirmed viewers’ interest in watching nostalgic stories. The survey found that 97% of participants were interested in watching projects that were released more than 10 years ago and that 79% of participants believe that streamers should resurface old and beloved projects and not just promote new shows and movies.
“More than 55 years ago Sesame Street “She has made reliable and joyful learning accessible to every child,” Joseph Giraldi, chief operating officer of Sesame Workshop, said in a statement. Sesame Street to Tubi allows us to expand our reach and impact – and we’re thrilled that our beloved characters and proven educational media will now be available to even more kids, families and fans.
