According to People, Applegate wrote about her experience in her memoir titled “Sad Eyed You: A Memoir.” The 54-year-old actress said she discovered she was pregnant in April 1991 while dating a partner, whose identity she did not reveal in the book.

Applegate explained that she documented that moment in her diary at the time. “In late April 1991, I became pregnant. I want to ignore what happened, but it is all recorded in my diary,” she wrote. “There are moments in my life that are too painful to force narrative or meaning, so I will let my voice from behind do the talking.”The memoir includes excerpts from those memoirs. In one article from 1991, Applegate described feeling overwhelmed after learning she was pregnant.
“So many feelings fill my soul,” she wrote.At the time, the actress thought she already knew what she would do if she faced an unplanned pregnancy. “I always felt that if I ever got pregnant knowing it was the wrong time, I would have no problem getting an abortion,” she wrote.
Diary entries describe a difficult relationship
Applegate also wrote about the turbulent relationship she had during that period. In another diary entry, she talked about the state of the relationship and the uncertainty she felt.
“I don’t really understand my relationship anymore. It’s not good,” she wrote. “Sometimes I think it’s not worth it.”Shortly after learning about the pregnancy, Applegate wrote that the situation with her boyfriend took a “brutal turn.” She decided to terminate the pregnancy soon after.One entry captures the initial emotions she experienced while making this decision. “I’m pregnant and I’m going to kill my baby on Thursday.
“I think about where I can go to recover from murder,” she wrote in her diary.
