Stagedoor Manor – A performing arts training center that hosted many future stars in their youth and inspired films such as camp and Theater camp – will take center stage at an important gala this fall to benefit the Community Recreation Fund.
Stagedoor 50: A one-night-only concert is scheduled to take place at New York’s Town Hall on September 28, with a long list of stars appearing including some famous alumni such as Skylar Astin, Eric Bergen, Michael Ian Black, Zach Braff, Josh Charles, Jon Cryer, Sofia Hublitz, Shawn Levy, Julia Murney, Chris Olsen, Larry Owens, Adam Pascal, Amy Ryan, Sheena Taub, Janine Tesori and more.
Organized to honor the “past, present and future” of the Performing Arts Center, which includes a group of alumni and friends of Stagedoor, this important event is organized with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting the Entertainment Community Fund’s programs, which supports actors, performers and industry professionals with a variety of services and housing. Stagedoor 50 will be produced by 6W Entertainment, David Quinn, Iris Smith, Tara Smith, Kaily Smith and Levy. The show will be directed by star of theater and cinema Bergen. This event is sponsored by Cindy, Debra Samuelson and Magic Park Media.
“From the moment I graduated from Stagedoor Manor nearly 25 years ago, I’ve wanted to go back in time. Even now, once the weather gets warm and the Tony Awards roll around, I can’t help but count down the days until my parents drive me to the Catskills and I can put on a musical or three with my best friends,” Bergen explained. “There are countless others like me, and countless people who are heading to Stagedoor for the first time. Stagedoor has changed our lives. He gave us our dreams, our families, and our careers. “I can’t wait to celebrate Stagedoor, Karl and Elsie Samuelsson, Jack Romano, Michael Larsen, and all the arts educators who have brought it to life over the last 50 summers.”
