The European Film Promotion (EFP) and its member organizations on Wednesday revealed the 20 producers selected for the 27th edition.y A copy of the film Producers on the Move, which will be shown during the Cannes Film Festival.
The group of producers, set to participate in the EFP outreach program at the festival, includes two individuals linked to the titles of Official Selection of Cannes. The 20 producers “reflect the breadth and vitality of contemporary European filmmaking, which spans different genres, from drama and comedy to thriller, fantasy, documentary, animation and all the way to adulthood,” EFP said. “The selection underscores the strong focus on female-led storytelling and close collaboration with female directors.”
The EFP also confirmed that many of the participants are “associated with globally recognized productions, including recent entries in the Academy Awards’ International Feature Film category.” “Marianne Ostraat (Film Alexandra) from Estonia was behind the acclaim Smoke sauna brotherhood (2023), winner of the Directing Award in the World Documentary Competition at Sundance Film Festival. Icelandic producer Sunna Guðnadóttir (Bjartsýn Films) is associated with Beautiful beings (2022), Iceland’s submission for the Academy Award. The Producers on the Move lineup also includes Xavi Font (ZuZú Cinema), the Spanish producer who won the Jury Prize at Cannes, Sirat (2025), which was nominated twice for Oscars last year, as well as Swedish producer Linda Motawa (Idea), whose credits include Sweden’s Oscar entry. Eagles of the Republic (2025), which premiered last year in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
