Dear gentle readers, Hannah Dodd and Masali Baduza are set to lead the upcoming season of Bridgertonnow in production.
Netflix confirmed on Tuesday that Dodd’s Francesca Bridgerton will be the next sister to find true love in the film adaptation of Julia Quinn’s best-selling novel.
In the fourth season of the hit series, which premiered in two parts earlier this year, Luke Thompson and Yirin Ha take the lead as Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Pike. They fell in love despite Sophie’s position in society while working as a maid.
That season we also saw the death of Francesca’s new husband, John (Victor Alley), setting up the show to focus on the blossoming romance between Francesca and John’s cousin, Michaela (sex-swapped from Michael in the Quinn books). The plot synopsis reads: “In Season 5, Francesca decides to return to the marriage market for practical reasons, two years after the death of her beloved husband, Lord John Stirling (Victor Alley). But when John’s cousin, Michaela, returns to London to look after the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will make her question whether she should stick to her practical intentions or pursue her innermost passions.”
Bridgerton Showrunner Jess Brownell said: “More than ever, Season 5 will be about longing… It feels groundbreaking. Obviously there have been a lot of great shows that have depicted queer love. We’re not the first by any means. But let’s make a full series.” Bridgerton A season revolving around a sapphic relationship feels huge.
Netflix posted on X on Tuesday: “A certain countess will find love again… Bridgerton Season 5 is now in production. Starring Hannah Dodd as Francesca Bridgerton and Masali Baduza as Michaela Stirling. Another post added: “FRANCHAELA RISING” along with new photos of the actresses.
Bridgerton It’s been a hugely successful franchise for the streaming giant, racking up hundreds of millions of views over four seasons so far. The first season saw Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor fall in love with Simon and Daphne Bridgerton, followed by Jonathan Bailey and Simon Ashley in season two, and then Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan in season three.
Fans have been speculating who might be next Bridgerton brother to lead the show, with some suggesting he could be Eloise to Claudia Jessie.
