Soha Ali Khan recently spoke out about the unrealistic expectations placed on mothers, saying that some aspects of motherhood — especially breastfeeding and postpartum recovery — should stop being romanticized.
The actress, who is married to Kunal Kemmu and shares daughter Inaaya Nomi Kemmu, spoke about the emotional and physical challenges women go through after giving birth.Speaking about breastfeeding, Soha admitted that although it can be a beautiful experience, it is also very difficult for many women.“Breastfeeding. It’s beautiful and creates a wonderful bond, but it can also be difficult,” Leova said. The actress explained that women often put enormous pressure on themselves to exclusively breastfeed for six months before introducing solid food to their babies.“You may also feel isolated because breastfeeding takes so long. Sometimes you’re sitting alone in a room with the baby while the rest of the house is celebrating and having fun, and you feel kind of lonely.”
“Feelings of inferiority should be talked about more.”
Soha Ali Khan also stressed the need for more honest conversations about the difficulties associated with breastfeeding.“Difficulty getting gynecomastia, not getting enough milk, feeling like there’s not enough milk — all of these things need to be talked about more,” she added.
The actress also spoke about how the sacrifice associated with motherhood and femininity is unnecessarily glorified.“We always put ourselves last,” she said. “We take care of everyone else first and then come back to ourselves.”Soha gave an example from her own life, where she shared how she consciously makes time for herself despite her responsibilities as a mother.“If I need an hour to go to the gym, I need to make time for it because it’s an investment in my well-being.
“It’s not something that should just happen when there’s time,” she explained.

You are already very hard on yourself and exercise a lot.”The actress also made reference to Patralekha while discussing the shame that women often face after pregnancy.“No one knows what you’re going through,” she said.Concluding her thoughts on postpartum recovery and motherhood, Soha Ali Khan said that motherhood changes a person forever.“You become a different person after having a baby.
