The BBC has revealed three new dramas that will hit our screens in due course, including Shy lol With Hayley Squires and Bel Powley.
Shy lola new six-part drama for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, written by award-winning screenwriter and novelist Amanda Coe (Apple Tree Square, The Trial of Christine Keeler) and produced by multiple BAFTA and Emmy award-winning Clerkenwell Films (The little reindeer, the death of Monroe the rabbit, the end of the damned world), which is part of BBC Studios.
The dark comedy follows Shy and Lola, two very different women who are forced to become allies when a murder implicates them in the criminal underworld operating in the small seaside town of Shy in the north of England. Squires (Night manager, I’m Danielle BlakeHe plays the role of a shy, janitor who dreams of a new life in Portugal, with Pauly (small light, Diary of a teenage girl) plays Lola, a former model-turned-hustler who arrives in town with trouble in her wake.
The filming of the series is inspired by French television dramas Cheyenne and Lolawill begin this spring in and around the UK cities of Hull and Leeds.
As announced on Monday he D- Notice Writers and executive producers include Adam Patterson and Declan Lawn. The six-part British political thriller is set in the world of investigative journalism. Patterson and Lown are said to have “some experience” with the D-Notice mechanism, which allows the government to advise journalists on national security. Now, they’ve come up with a drama that examines how truth and power speak to each other. This is their third project for the BBC. Poisonings in Salisbury and Blue lightsand their first commission from the production company Hot Sauce Pictures, with support from Sony Pictures Television.
It was also commissioned by the BBC 1536a new drama series for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, based on Ava Pickett’s play of the same name. The eight-part show was written by Drama Republic’s Beckett (Riot women, one day) Its events take place in the heart of Tudor England against the backdrop of the arrest of Anne Boleyn and intertwine the royal scandal with the rural struggle.
1536 The film follows Anna, Mariela and Jane: three young women gossiping, arguing and dreaming in an Essex village, desperately waiting for their lives to begin. When news reaches them that King Henry VIII has arrested Queen Anne Boleyn, the three never doubt that this act will change their lives forever.

In a world where every decision made in the corridors of power reverberates throughout our lives, this story seems more relevant than ever. Executive producers are Judd Liknitsky, Rhona Bean, Rebecca D’Souza, Chloe Besson and Beckett. The series was commissioned by SALT.
