Legendary singer Asha Bhosle passed away on April 12 in Mumbai and left the nation saddened, with condolences continuing to pour in from across the country. To fulfill her last wish, her son Anand Bhosle and granddaughter Zhanai Bhosle traveled to Varanasi, where her ashes were immersed in the Ganges on April 20.

The famous singer passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai.Photos from the ceremony were widely shared online, capturing emotional moments from the ritual. In several clips, Zanai is seen collapsing after completing the rituals, while Anand is seen performing prayers and dipping ashes in the river. The family held the ceremony on a boat at one of the ghats along the Ganges River.

Following the death of her grandmother, Zanai Bhosle took to Instagram to express her grief and reflect on the immense love Asha Bhosle has received.

“When I wake up this morning, I realize that I’ve lost my partner in crime, my best friend, the person who completed my entire world and the first person who held me when I was born. What do I do now? Who am I supposed to wake up and hug in the morning and have tea with? Who am I supposed to wait for me every day when I come home or who am I supposed to make silly jokes with.”

These are just some of the things to remember her by, but to all those who felt this loss with me, remember that she was and is the definition of life and laughter, so if you have to remember her just remember her this way!!She continued her heartfelt note, saying, “She looks down on all of us, especially her family and I think she will come back to me very soon, because that’s what she promised me and always told me!! I lost the love of my life and there is no greater sadness in the world so I urge you guys to live life to the fullest and celebrate it this way and celebrate her life!! I love you Ashai, goodbye for now my love..

In the days leading up to her death, Asha Bhosle was reportedly ill. She was admitted to British Candy Hospital on April 11 due to a chest infection and fatigue. Her last rites were performed with full state honors at Shivaji Park Crematorium.Over the course of her illustrious career, Asha Bhosle has lent her voice to thousands of songs across languages, with memorable hits like “Sharara”, “Le Gayi”, “Radha Kaise Na Jale”, “Yeh Vaada Raha”, among many others, leaving behind an unparalleled musical legacy.
