Apple CEO Eddie Cue has been named “Entertainment Person of the Year” at Cannes Lions, the annual advertising and technology event that has become a must-attend for media and entertainment companies every summer.
Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services and Health, is the executive who oversees Apple TV, Apple Music, and Apple’s film and TV studios. He will deliver a keynote speech on June 22 alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer, before accepting the award.
Apple has been a frequent presence at the Cannes Lions festival, which brings together much of the advertising industry alongside major technology and media companies in the south of France. Last year, the company was named Creative Marketer of the Year at the Cannes Lions Festival.
Cue has been Apple’s biggest supporter in the media and entertainment space, giving the TV team freedom to pursue deals, while securing deals such as a Formula 1 rights deal that began earlier this year.
Cue told THR in March that the first F1 race of the season was a win for the tech giant: “The 2026 Formula 1 season on Apple TV is off to a strong start, with fans responding positively and viewership increasing year over year in the first weekend, exceeding F1 and Apple’s expectations,” Cue said.
However, Apple remains hesitant on specific numbers regarding viewership and subscribers for Apple TV.
“Eddie Q has continually pushed the boundaries of entertainment and storytelling, building platforms and experiences that have redefined how audiences engage with culture,” Simon Cook, president of Cannes Lions, said in a statement. “Under his leadership, Apple has not only produced world-class content, but also shaped the future of entertainment through innovation, creativity and an unwavering commitment to quality.” We are thrilled to honor Eddie as the 2026 Entertainment Personality of the Year.
