Anne Hathaway shares an update on the status of the long-awaited third installment Princess Diaries privilege.
The Oscar-winning actress, who played Mia Thermopolis in the 2001 and 2004 films, recently appeared on SiriusXM. Radio IndyHost Andy Cohen asked her: “Where are we now?” Princess Diaries 3?”

Hollywood Reporter It was first reported in 2022 that a script was in the works for a third installment. It was later revealed in 2024 that Adele Lim had been tapped to direct the feature.
While details are still under wraps, the film is set to be a continuation of the film series, which revolves around Mia Thermopolis (Hathaway), who discovers that she is the heir apparent to the throne of Genovia. At the end of Part 2, Mia is crowned unmarried Queen of Genovia after Parliament abolishes the law requiring the queen to marry first. However, she finally reunites with Nicolas Deveraux (Chris Pine) after calling off her wedding to Andrew Jacoby (Callum Blue).
While chatting with THR last month, Princess Diaries Creator Meg Cabot shared, “I’m so excited that there’s a third movie. I read the script, and it was great. I told them not to send it back, because I love it so much. I have trouble keeping my mouth shut.”
She also joked, “I’m very happy with what I’ve read so far, but there are definitely some things in the book that were involved in the last text I read.”
