PSSSB Excise Inspector Recruitment 2026: Application window reopens for 197 posts, apply before this date

Punjab Subordinated Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has reopened the application window for the recruitment of Excise and Excise Inspectors under Advertisement No. 01/2026.

Candidates who missed the previous deadline now have another chance to apply, with the revised deadline set for April 9, 2026. The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 197 vacancies, and applications must be submitted online through the official website.The reopening is expected to benefit a large pool of aspirants looking for Group C government jobs in Punjab, especially graduates looking for roles in the Tax and Excise Department.

PSSSB Application Process and eligibility criteria

Interested candidates can apply by visiting the official website of PSSSB and completing the registration process. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited university. In addition, candidates must complete a computer course of at least 120 hours.The age limit for general category candidates is between 18 and 37 years, while reserved category candidates are eligible for age relaxation as per Punjab government norms.

Selection process and examination pattern

The selection process consists of a written test followed by document verification. The written test will be conducted in two parts. Part A will assess proficiency in the Punjabi language and is qualifying in nature, requiring candidates to secure at least 50% marks.Part B will determine merit and include questions related to the topic. The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Part B and negative marks are expected to apply.

Salary and job profile

Selected candidates will be appointed as Tax and Excise Inspectors in Punjab Government. The pay scale ranges from INR 10,300 to INR 34,800, along with a grade pay of INR 4,200 and applicable allowances.The role includes monitoring tax compliance, preventing customs duty evasion, and assisting in revenue collection for the state.
