Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday described the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as an example of the BJP’s commitment to putting the country’s youth above political gains. Shah said he was “absolutely confident” that students who cleared the NEET exam would get “full justice”.
In his first reaction after the government accepted Pradhan’s resignation amid nationwide protests over NEET paper leak, Shah said the Narendra Modi government respects the sentiments of students and remains committed to taking stronger action against the paper leak.
“For BJP workers, the country, our youth and our students are far more important than any position. Today, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Ji’s resignation from his post embodies this very principle,” Amit Shah wrote in a post on X.

Shah: Justice for students is the center’s priority
The Interior Minister said that the government is committed to addressing concerns regarding the integrity of examinations and ensuring accountability by taking strict action against those responsible for paper leaks.
“The Modi government respects the sentiments of the youth of the country and is committed to implementing necessary reforms against paper leaks. The decisions taken by Modi ji to ensure strict punishment is imposed on those guilty of paper leaks,” he said.
Expressing his confidence in the government’s response, he added:
“I am fully confident that these steps will ensure complete fairness to students who have cleared the NEET exam.”

Shah gives credit to Dharmendra Pradhan’s tenure
The Union Home Minister also lauded Dharmendra Pradhan’s tenure as Education Minister, saying he played a key role in implementing major reforms in the education sector.
Shah highlighted initiatives such as effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), expansion of PM SHRI schools, promotion of digital education, increased use of mother languages in examinations, skill development, and enhanced industry-academic coordination.
“His tenure is a testimony to his dedication to making India a developed nation,” Shah said.

Pradhan resigns. The Justice and Development Party withdraws its protest
Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Union Education Minister on Saturday after days of protests led by students and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) against the NEET papers leak controversy. Later, President Draupadi Murmu accepted his resignation, and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi was given additional charge of the Education Ministry.

Hours after the resignation, the CJP announced the withdrawal of its indefinite protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, saying the government had agreed to withdraw police cases against protesters and accepted the group’s demands, including maximum possible compensation for families of suicides linked to NEET paper leak.
