Uttarakhand CM approves Rs 62 crore for development work, preparations for Kumbh 2027 and scholarships

The Uttarakhand government has approved financial sanctions worth over $Rs 62 crore for development projects, infrastructure works, Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations and welfare measures, including scholarships for children of ex-servicemen.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also approved the launch of Thana Diwas and Ratri Choupal programs in vibrant villages to enhance police-public interaction and address law and order grievances.

The approvals include funding for a sewage treatment plant in Dehradun, NABARD-funded development schemes, temple infrastructure, public facilities, and village-level policing initiatives across several districts.

Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami agreed $Rs 6.62 lakh crore is required to purchase land for construction of an 8 million sq m sewage treatment plant at Tapkeshwar Mahadev, Garhi Dhakra Cantonment in Dehradun under the state sector. He also agreed to release $41.37 crore for 21 NABARD-funded development schemes in Uttarakhand.

As for preparations related to Kumbh Mela 2027, the Prime Minister agreed $5.46 crore for works including palisades, chakravyuh barricades and temporary fire watch towers. Additional $Rs 6.85 lakh crore has been approved for construction of eight temporary night shelters and associated facilities.

The Prime Minister also approved financial assistance for temple-related infrastructure projects in different areas. These include $1.24 lakh crore for the remaining restoration work at Sukeshwar Mahadev Temple at Sakuni village under Dwarahat block in Almora district, with the first tranche of $74.83 lakh. Also approved $72.83 lakh for construction of Dharamshala at Ma Mangla Bhagwati Mata temple complex at Saraghat, Almora, with first installment. $43.69 thousand.

In Pithoragarh district $22 lakh has been approved for beautification works and construction of a boundary wall and a dharamshala at Buddheshwar temple in Bhaudi gram panchayat under Monakot block. In addition, $25 lakh has been sanctioned for beautification of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Park and pond in Darao village of Kichha Assembly constituency in Udham Singh Nagar district.

Supporting scholarships for children of ex-servicemen, the Vibrant Policing Initiative has been approved

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also approved the allocation $36.84 lakh from the Prime Minister’s Assistance Fund Kargil Shaheed Parivar Scholarship Fund for children of ex-servicemen pursuing engineering, medical and doctoral courses. Scholarship support will continue along the lines of the current arrangement.

The Prime Minister also agreed to organize Thana Diwas and Ratri Chaupal programs in every vibrant village located in Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

According to the government, the initiative aims to establish direct interaction between police personnel and residents to address issues related to law and order, document verification, character certificates, cyber awareness and other police-related grievances. The program aims to improve access to police services and enhance communication between rural communities and the police department.
