Indian-origin student and athlete Sharush Sheth died in Ohio after being run over by a Ford Mustang.
21-year-old Sarosh Seth was killed in a car crash in Ohio when he was walking on the road and was run over by a Ford Mustang. The incident happened on Wednesday around 2.40pm and Seth’s identity has now been confirmed.
The driver sped through the intersection at North High Street, ran a red light and struck two people on the sidewalk near the intersection. The vehicle then drove into the Kroger parking lot and landed on top of a parked car with one person inside.The pedestrians were taken to a local hospital and one of them, Seth, was pronounced dead. The person in the parked car was in stable condition. The driver was treated for injuries and arrested but has not yet been charged.
Authorities filed a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence, which is Ohio’s equivalent of drunk driving, against the driver. Investigators said alcohol and/or drugs were believed to have contributed to the crash, although toxicology tests were pending.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.The Ohio State University said that Sheth, the son of physician parents, was a neuroscience major.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this extremely difficult time,” the university said.Prior to OSU, Sheth was a student at Warren JFK High School, where he was a varsity football player and forward for the Eagles football team.“The Warren JFK football community is devastated by the devastating news of Sarosh Sheth’s passing,” Puente said in a statement. “I’m at a loss for words to describe how his former teammates, coaches, administrators, teammates and teachers feel upon learning of this unspeakable tragedy. But I can say this – Sarosh Sheth embodied everything it meant to be a Warren John Kennedy Eagle in every sense of the word. Sarosh believed in family, faith, humility, leadership, chivalry, service and compassion,” Eagles coach Damon Puente said.
