It’s been less than a week since Shane Gillis broke one stand-up comedy record and became the No. 1 champion of another when he performed a one-man show in front of the largest audience ever. Now he’s about to enter millions of homes once again with the third season of his Netflix series Tiresfor which the trailer dropped on Thursday.
On July 17, Gillis became a two-time Guinness World Record holder when his show at Lincoln Financial Field attracted 73,946 people and sold 77,047 tickets, earning him two titles for attending a stand-up comedy event. He returns to the series as co-star and executive producer alongside John McIver.
Season three finds Gillis’ character, Shane, and his cousin, Will (Steve Gerben), now co-owners of the West Chester, Pennsylvania, branch of the family’s struggling auto repair chain, Valley Forge. As they struggle to keep their business above water, their friendship reaches a breaking point, and they begin to look to their past to navigate their future together, according to a statement shared by Netflix this week. SeriesQ Movies on location next to one of Gerben’s father’s real-life tire shops; Gillis purchased and built the store next door, turning half a Pennsylvania mall into a Hollywood film set.
In addition to Gillis, McIver and Gerben, who is also one of the show’s co-creators, the series stars Academy Award nominee Thomas Haden Church, Chris O’Dowd, Kaylah Fox, and Stavros Halkias.
The trailer sees the two cousins exchanging barbs over the timing of their sexual exploits and how the collared shirt shows off Gillis’ character. Church returns as Gillis’ character’s father, who is seen in the trailer demanding that his cousins bring the Valley Forge branch together and prevent it from failing.
The workplace comedy premiered in 2024 with six episodes, doubling the number of episodes with season two the following year, as Gillis’ star began to rise. Netflix has confirmed that Season 3 will consist of 12 episodes and will premiere on August 12.
